What is Literature Criticism?

Simply put, literature criticism is the assessment and interpretation of literary works.  The Hutchinson Unabridged Encyclopedia goes on to say that the term "criticism refers to all literary assessment, whether positive or negative." Criticism can be structuralist, semiological, feminist, Marxist, or psychoanalytical.

During your time on the internet, you have have noticed that many sites offer reviews.  Are reviews the same as criticism?  What's the difference?
