The term gentrification coined by a British sociologist in the 1960s who observed rapid changes in London after the Second World War. Ruth Glass observed "shabby, modest mews and cottages of the formerly working-class residents were taken over by a more affluent contingent of middle-and upper-class buyers and transformed into elegant expensive residences."
This gentrification can be seen in the United States as well. What will happen when Fall River builds a new water front? And brings in the train from Boston? Gentrification impacts all of us.
