Interlibrary loan is a service that is free but restricted in use to current students, staff, and faculty with a valid Bristol Community College Student ID. Please be ready to provide your 900# when submitting a request. If an item is unavailable through the Library Learning Commons HELM Online Catalog OR the Commonwealth Catalog, this services allows you to borrow books or receive copies of documents that are owned by libraries outside our lending area.
Want materials (e.g. books and articles) that Bristol Library Learning Commons does not have?
1. Find the citation or source for the item. If it's a book in the HELM catalog, request it in HELM using "Place Hold". For everything else, use Interlibrary Loan.
2. How? and Where? In the databases, use the button "request through interlibrary loan" and fill in the form. For other items, go to the Library Learning Commons website, go to Services at the top and then the ILL button.
3. Fill out the form. ILL Form
4. Your request is sent to librarians.
5. Librarians request materials from another library.
6. Your material is sent back to Bristol Library Learning Commons.
7. You receive an email either telling you your material has arrived or directly in your email as a pdf. OR
8. Retrieve your material at the circulation desk.
9. PDF files are yours to keep. Books must be returned.
