Here are some videos on the Bristol LCC's YouTube page that show you how to use our databases.
What is a library database?
Why not use Google?
Some databases are subject specific- this means they only include journals, magazines, or articles that fall into a specific field. For psychology, we recommend you try these databases for more in-depth information and research.
Other databases are multidisciplinary. This means you can find information from all subject areas within it. These are great for beginning your research to get a general idea of what literature exists in your topic of interest. Once you have searched these, we recommend moving to subject-specific databases that will have more in-depth research in your specific topic.
One of the largest academic multi-disciplinary databases, providing indexing and abstracting for over 8,000 periodicals. Full text is provided for more than 4,650 of these titles with over 3,590 of these being peer-reviewed, scholarly journals. Searchable, cited references are provided for more than 1,000 titles. Coverage: 1975 (over 100 journals) – present.
