Introduction

As a student at BCC you have access to materials owned by the BCC Libraries: books, movies and music. BCC is a member of SAILS, a network of public and academic libraries in southeastern Massachusetts. Each library has gathered its respective collections and made them searchable through a common database, called the SAILS Catalog. You can search for materials in a number of ways: by title, author, subject, or general keyword. Keyword searching is the most effective method when you are not certain of exact titles or correct spelling.

Using the SAILS Catalog to search and request books

The default search is by keyword, identified in the catalog as "All Fields." Notice in the example below we are using just the "key" words to locate relevant sources; full questions or sentences are not needed.

Accessing BCC's e-book Collection

Bristol Community College provides access to more than 19,000 electronic book titles via subscription to Ebrary. Remember to use your BCC ID barcode number to access this resource from off-campus. From a single search box, you can add several keywords to narrow a topic. In the example below, we combined two similar concepts in hopes of getting more results:
