Why books?

Books and ebooks will often provide good background information, along with in-depth focused information about your topic. They are well-researched and well-written. Books will demonstrate how your topic relates to broader, narrower, and related issues. Their bibliographies can also lead you to other useful resources. And, best of all, you don't have to read the whole thing!

How to read a book for research

Look over the Introduction or Preface to determine the scope of information covered in the book, then decide if it relates closely enough to your topic to be useful.

Consider chapter titles in the Table of Contents.

Take a look at the Index for a specific topic - if more than one page of the book relates to your research need, chances are the book will be useful!
