How this Guide Works

The purpose of this class is to introduce students to the ethical and legal framework of healthcare professionals, including topics such as HIPPA, confidentiality, patient/resident rights and a professional code of conduct. Essential knowledge, skills, behaviors and attitudes as well as cultural and developmental competencies for the healthcare professional will be explored.

The course will emphasize current safety and quality trends, including population based care, risk reduction as it relates to medical errors, trans-disciplinary care, evidenced based practice and electronic health records in a contemporary health care world. - The Syllabus
