Welcome to the Office Administration Research Guide. This guide will help you find books, ebooks, magazine and journal articles, websites, and more that will help you research topics in this subject.
What is Office Administration?
According to the Occupatonal Outlook Handbook, Office Adminstration professionals perform routine clerical and administrative duties. They organize files, draft messages, schedule appointments, and support other staff.
The Occupational Outlook Handbook (OOH) is a career resource offering information on the hundreds of occupations that provide the overwhelming majority of jobs in the United States. Each occupational profile describes the duties required by the occupation, the work environment of that occupation, the typical education and training needed to enter the occupation, the median pay for workers in the occupation, and the job outlook into the next 10 years for that occupation. Each profile is in a standard format that makes it easy to compare occupations.
Accessing BCC Library Resources from Off-Campus
When you are off campus (or in locations without a recognized IP address), you will be required to verify that you are a current BCC student by entering either your 900 number or your BCC Campus Card ID.
If you live, work, or go to school in Massachusetts, you can have access to all of the remotely accessable electronic databases at the Boston Public Library. These added resources are available via an ecard that you can obtain by registering at the Boston Public Library website or following the instructions that we have at our "Online Reference Databases" page for getting an ecard from the BPL.
The BPL has a number of resources in the field of office adminstration, from full text reference ebooks to magazine, journal and newspaper articles. These e-resources can supplement ours here at BCC...and they are free to use!
