Useful Handout

Library of Congress Classification System

BCC Libraries shelve books according to the Library of Congress Classification System.  Titles for American Sign Language can be found under the heading Social Sciences (H).  You can browse the shelves in the following call number range:

  • HV 1551 - 3024 : People with Disabilities including blind, deaf, people with physical and mental disabilities.

All subjects, including American Sign Language, tend to be cataloged everywhere.  Consider the above as a browsing suggestion, but as you'll notice the suggested books above fall into several call number ranges outside of the HV designation.  Please ask a librarian if you have any questions about it.
