Welcome, HST 113 students! This guide will help you to navigate many of the resources and services available to you through the BCC Libraries.
The tabs across the top of this guide are organized into specific resource types, offering suggestions for useful titles throughout the stages of your research. You'll also find handy tips on making the research process less stressful. I'll be adding additional content to this guide as we progress through the next few weeks, so check in often! Remember, you can always contact me and other BCC librarians if you get stuck along the way. Ready? Let's get started!
About the BCC Libraries
The Libraries at Bristol Community College contain more than 62,000 print volumes and over 27,000 electronic volumes (e-books). Most of the print resources are held at the Fall River Campus, with smaller, growing collections at the New Bedford and Attleboro campuses. As a BCC student, you have access to these resources, and much more:
- Over 7,000 streaming videos via the Films on Demand database.
- 75+ online databases covering topics in the Arts, Business, Health, Science and Social Sciences and offering you combined access to thousands of full text journal articles, book chapters and digitized primary source materials.
- Membership in SAILS, a network of over 70 libraries in southeastern Massachusetts who share a common catalog for searching and placing holds, plus free delivery of requested items to the library closest to where you live.
- A statewide Virtual Catalog, which expands the number of print and media titles available to students and patrons to over 10 million.

BCC Library Card
Your BCC Student ID serves as your library card. Activate your ID at the Library Circulation Desk and reactivate it each year you are a BCC student. Use your activated card to borrow material and access subscription databases & e-books from off-campus.
Your library barcode number is the 14-digit number (no letters) printed on the back side of your ID. Don't have a student ID? Contact a librarian about obtaining temporary access to electronic resources until your ID is processed.
